Unfortunately, it suffers too much from sloppy editing. While packed with good information, its pages are also rife with spelling and/or grammatical errors. Some of these mistakes are readily apparent and|About the Author|The historian Georges Bernage is one of France's premier experts on the 1944 Normandy Invasion. He has published over forty books on the subject since 1978.
Here is an outstanding photographic record of the heroic taking of the beach at Omaha. Omaha was the more difficult of the two beaches for the US forces and the fighting was ferocious. The tactics, terrain, uniforms and equipment of the American soldiers and their German opponents are covered here in great detail.
